I spend a lot of time sorting, combining, taking things apart, putting them back together, and generally following whatever intoxicating idea that shows up. To me, it adds to the character and value. Handed down items to be repurposed have proven their ability to withstand human touch and manipulation. And for those items that soften and wear over time: they are worth mending. It's all worth mending.
I also source new items, like specific fibers, natural and manmade gemstones*, or hardware. For example, I can't yet spin fiber as fine as thread, so I am purchasing that in abundance for sure, ha :)
*no, earthmade gemstones can not be "new" but I sometimes source them newly cut for specially made pieces.
Many items have come from thrifting or have been gifted or sourced from neighbors and friends, humans and animals alike, as I have bought and processed my own fiber to spin and included some in the hoods that I make. I might be a collector first, and a maker second. Whatever it is that I am or do, I love making things with my hands.
